Greenlawn Park was originally named Greenlawn Memorial Park and began in May of 1955. It operated for approximately the next 20 years and became abandoned in or around 1975. For the next 57 years, the cemetery was left to family members and community members to try and maintain. In 2017 the process began to acquire the cemetery and was completed in 2021. Now, the cemetery will be operated as a perpetual care cemetery and is locally owned and operated. Greenlawn Park is a 17.7-acre state recognized perpetual care public cemetery. We have over 40 years of experience in the funeral industry and understand the importance of honoring your loved one. We aim to demonstrate the utmost compassion and professionalism. We understand that upkeep for the cemetery is a great responsibility and we will continually work to improve this sacred place.
The vision for Greenlawn Park is to restore and exceed the original expectations of the cemetery and become Lowndes County’s premier burial grounds and resting place. It is our hope that the atmosphere will be a place where you can find peace and comfort while you visit your loved one.
What is perpetual Care?
Perpetual care is a trust fund put together to help maintain cemetery grounds, graves, crypts, mausoleums, etc. The cemetery is required by the State of Mississippi to place a percentage of the sales from burial spaces into this trust fund to ensure upkeep and maintenance for generations to come. Families of people buried in the cemetery grounds can also contribute towards these funds to ensure the place is clean, well-maintained, and secure.
In the future
In the future, we will strive to provide many improvements to the cemetery. This can only be accomplished by selling burial spaces, generating revenue and being able to put those funds back into these improvements. We are committed to making Greenlawn Park a place of beauty with a serene atmosphere for all of those while visiting loved ones that have passed on.
